The Cohutta Chapter of Trout Unlimited has partnered with Jim Lindenmayer, Director of Cherokee County Homeless Vets and the Atlanta Fly Fishing School to provide veterans and first responders fly fishing classes. Classes consist of three day sessions, conducted twice a year, in the Spring and Fall and include indoor classroom activities as well as outdoor casting instruction and practice. There is an on water fly fishing trip to a beautiful North Georgia trophy trout stream to finalize the class. The next class is Oct 15th, 22nd, and 29th 2026.
We are continuing to enroll students in our upcoming veterans and first responders fly fishing, October 15,22, and 29. The word has spread far and wide and we are presently at 70 percent of capacity. Chuck Harmon and I will be manning a registration table at the Rome We Care Vet Fair this coming Friday, 12th, which will generate some more candidates.
We are looking forward to another great experience sharing our love of fly fishing with our veterans and first responders
